Approach length matters
During delivery, the container moves off the truck on rails. The vehicle needs space to align before the chosen spot and room to leave after placement. Curves, parked vehicles, islands, and narrow gates can reduce usable space quickly.
Look up, not only across
Branches, service lines, signs, awnings, and roof edges can be hard to judge in a straight-down map view. Walk the route and take photos from the driver’s likely approach. Never move or touch utility lines yourself.
Describe the ground honestly
Tell the operator whether the route and resting area are concrete, asphalt, gravel, pavers, soil, or grass, and note visible slope or damage. Rain can change what is safely accessible on an unpaved site.
Preserve the return route
Pickup may happen after other materials, vehicles, or equipment have arrived. Keep the approach clear, close the container door if instructed, and make sure nothing extends above or beyond the approved load boundary.
Working checklist
- Straight approach photographed
- Gate and narrow point measured
- Overhead clearance checked
- Surface and slope reported
- Container not moved after placement
- Return path reserved
